All Kitchen and Bath by Design Stone Hearths and Fireplaces
Almost all fireplaces and hearths (except for woodstoves) are stone or brick, and even woodstoves will often have a raised stone hearth. The reasons are obvious; rock doesn't burn when encountering hot ash or embers. It is also useful to store heat generated by the fireplace for even distribution despite variations in the fire's intensity.
We only have a few shots of fireplaces right now, so check back often. We're not leaving the shop without the camera!

This luxurious black granite fireplace is beautiful to behold, but difficult to photograph. Ask to see a sample of this material to see what we mean.
For something a bit more elaborate, you might want a carved marble surround like this. We would integrate it with the remainder of your hearth and chimney.
Here's something with a little "smoother" stone effect, bordering on modern.
This fireplace is also in black granite, but has a traditional wood mantelpiece.
